COBIAN NOTEPAD-Well,
if you didn't realize by now, the name "Cobian Notepad" is named after
the author. Obviously, this notepad is easy to use (like the rest of the
notepads). It has a multi-document interface, offers an simple encoding
feature so people won't be able to view stuff you don't want to be seen,
easy one button access to Windows Explorer and Control Panel, and opens
your system files (autoexec.bat, win.ini, system.ini, config.sys) at the
touch of a button. Plus, it will create the raw (only <body>, <head>,
and <html> tags) and layout for an html document so you can create a
webpage. There is no right-click interface. It opens at least half-megabyte
text files. You have to, whether you want to or not, view a picture of
the author every time the program boots up.

C-WORDPAD-So,
you like the Windows WordPad okay, but you feel there is something missing?
Try CWordPad. This great program is basically a carbon copy of the default
Windows WordPad, with an important addition: a spell checker and thesaurus!
In this modern day and age, no one should be without a spell checker. So,
download this program, and either use it as a separate program altogether,
or delete WordPad, and replace it with this one.

NOTEPAD PLUS-Notepad+
is an excellent text editor. It has a theoretical upper limit of file sizes
of 20 MB and has a multi-document interface. It has a page layout function
so you can set margins before printing, and allows MAPI e-mail through
Windows. You can set fonts and font colors, assign extensions for Notepad+
to open when those types of files are double-clicked (e.g. .txt files,
.bat files, .ini files) , and it will register them in Windows automatically.
This is a good choice if the preceding explanation suits your needs.

doing that with Notepad or Wordpad! You want this one!

PEDIT-Short
for "Program Editor," Pedit is an text editor unlike any other. First,
it is a DOS text editor, which is a rarity. Second, you might think that
a DOS text editor is no good, but you'd be wrong. From one look at the
readme file, one can tell this text editor is chocked full of all sorts
of neat commands, shortcuts, and has even got a spell checker and thesaurus!
It also, by the way, loads large text files quickly. This editor, even
if you don't use DOS a lot, might be a good one to have archived. If you
like the look and feel of DOS, you should have already hit download!
